The stars of the film are Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, Robin Wright as Jenny and Gary Sinise as Lieutenant Dan Taylor. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Winston Groom and Eric Roth.

The film is about a man named Forrest Gump from Alabama telling his amazing life story to bypassers at a bus stop. Forrest begins to tell his lifestory from his childhood when he was bullied by some kids because he was crippled and couldn’t walk normally. But then he met Jenny and they became best friends like Forrest said ”we go together like peas and carrots”, Forrest always loved Jenny eventough Jenny did all kind of things for example she went roadtripping with strangers and smoked weed.
Forrest was accepted to play football in university because he was so fast runner, he couldn’t actually play football but he was chosen to All-American football team and got to meet president John F. Kennedy. He graduated from university and went to army and he was called to war  in Vietnam.Forrest learned to play ping-pong in Vietnam while he was injured and he was so good that he was chosen to All-American ping-pong team, with whom he travelled to China to play ping-pong. Forrest got discharged from the army. He met a man called Bubba while he was serving in Vietnam and they became friends. They had plans to buy a shrimping boat and go shrimping when they get out of Vietnam but Bubba got shot. Forrest kept his promise and bought a shrimping boat and went shrimping with his friend from Vietnam, Lieutenant Dan Taylor. They caught tons of shrimps by coincidence and became millionaires, Forrest didn’t care about money so Lieutenant Dan Taylor handled the money and invested in Apple. Forrest leaves shrimping industry and moves to cutting grass and he enjoys doing it.
Forrest’s loneliness leads him to take a run ”for no particular reason.” At first, he decides  to run to the end of the road, then across town, then across the county, then all the way to the Mississippi border. Eventually, he criss-crosses the country several times in three years. In the end of the movie Jenny tells to Forrest that he has a son. Jenny dies to HIV and Forrest moves to home Alabama with his son.

Tom Hanks plays amazing role as Forrest Gump and he is awarded the Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar in 1995. The visual effects are well implemented and they were also awarded with an Oscar for best effects in 1995. In total Forrest Gump won 6 Oscars and lots of other prizes. The movie is successful from all perspectives in my opinion. It gets better and better everytime you watch it, I recommend it to everyone.

Black hawk down

Black hawk down were made in 2001 in United States of America. The film won Oscars from best editing, best sound and were nominated for best director and cinematography. Black hawk down is a story of American elite strike teams mission to release small city from withering warlords grip. Sounds Like a basic American super soldier movie right? However it´s different from others because it´s based on actual event.

The battle of Mogadishu happened between October 3, 1993 and October 4, 1993. The battle of Mogadishu were joint ops mission witch goal were to capture Somali warlord  Mohamed Farrah Aid-id and the movie focuses on rescuing party for crew of two shot down Black Hawk helicopter. A lot director didn’t  change the code film is still a triumph for American ”saviors”.

Storyline is still old same first 30 minutes is spend to watch bald people speaking meaningless fuzz and showing how evil hostile is. When the battle begins, it´s same old story: American propaganda: hundreds of Somali militia are shooting group of American soldiers on a ground without any effect. However after couple minutes Americans are forced on defence still they seem to get over whit it without a scratch. The rest of the film is just meaningless stuffing when rescuing party is trying to get to crash side. however in that stuffing the secret of success is hidden, because that’s where the tide changes and Americans are starting to drop down, which brings the movie more realistic. of course Americans are not going to lose but in this movie they don’t get any miracle power but air support which is much more acceptable. Another funny fact is that everything else than American things seem to blow up Movie doesn’t show much about the citizen’s view or even the city it’s purely about soldiers.

Personally I think that movie were made to defence USA:s massacres and to get more soldiers to world. During the raid more than 1000 Somali got killed by ALL forces and 19 American were killed.

The movie is not to be recommended for those who require a deeper meaning or something stimulating. but those who enjoy action and all that other stuff its very enjoyable.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a American drama film directed by Richard Brooks. The movie was released in 1958 and it’s starred by Elizabeth Taylor (as Margaret ”Maggie”), Paul Newman (as Brick) and Burl Ives (as Harvey ”Big Daddy”).

The film starts when a drunken Brick Pollit brakes his leg by leaping hurdles on a trackfield, dreaming of his glory days in high school sports. He is an ex-football player, who had later switched the ball to alcohol and who’s marriage with gorgeous Maggie is cold and indifferent from his case. Big Daddy is dying for cancer, although he doesn’t know that yet himself. He arrives home from the hospital just in time for his 65th birthday and his both sons, Brick and Garson, with their families had gathered together to celebrate this big day. Everybody knows about Big Daddy’s dying but they wants him to remain happy, so nobody tells the truth to him. But in the evening of his birthday he finds out the real side of his illness. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a great story of self-loathing, growing, falsehood and living in it and ofcourse love.

Characters are all very professional. Margaret’s ”The Cat” loneliness and Brick’s refusal to make her his desire, has made her hard, nervous, and bitchy. Brick is the favorite son and mourned lover. Brick embodies an almost archetypal masculinity. At the same time, the Brick before us is also an obviously broken man because of his repressed homosexual desire for his dead friend Skipper. Big Daddy is Brick’s father a large, brash, and vulgar plantation millionaire who believes he has returned from the grave, though he is very ill. Deep in his heart, he’s still a loving old man despite the brash appearance.

I have watched this film about five times and I never get bored to it. Film represent old-fashioned but wealthy life of a big family, with it’s sorrow, hate and love. I recommend this film to all who has an interest in old classic dramafilms.

Die Hard 4.0

Die Hard 4.0

The movie I chose was Die Hard 4.0, also known as “Live Free or Die Hard”. It was released in 2007 and it still remains as the latest and the most profit made movie of the Die Hard film franchise. USA premier was at 22nd of June and Finland’s premier 5 days later, 27th . Genre of the movie is action. The stars of the movie are Bruce Willis as John McClane, the ‘hero’ of the movie, Timothy Olyphant as Thomas Gabriel, the villain of the movie. Other important actors are; Justin Long and Maggie Q. Len Wiseman was in charge of directing the movie.

For the 4th time Bruce Willis makes a incredible role as John McClane, ruthless detective of NYPD who does not show any mercy to bad guys. Bruce Willis fits well to his role. He gives the role the touch which makes John McClane charismatic and outstanding. And the proof of Willis’s amazing performance; Bruce Willis won the ‘National Movie Awards for the best performance by a Male’ for his magnificent role in Die Hard 4.0. Timothy Olyphant instead doesn’t fit to his role as well as Willis does. He just doesn’t seem to be unrefined and ruthless as terrorists are used to be seen in movies.

The plot of the movie is similar to all of the Die Hard movies – terrorists do something that they shouldn’t do and John McClane is always there for some odd reason to save the day. Yet again, NYPD cop is in wrong place at the wrong time. This time the incidents happen in Washington, DC, on 4th of the July, when group of terrorists hack in to USA´s government servers and gain access all of the services and  shut down the security and transport systems of the city and its neighbors. Chaos rules in the whole Eastern-Coast of the USA and when nothing is working McClane has to drag his friend, Matthew Farrell (Justin Long) who knows everything about computers and partners try to get the systems back online.

Overall I think the movie is successful. Still after 12 years Len Wiseman and Bruce Willis have managed to modernize the character very well and the story as well is astonishing itself. I myself really enjoyed the movie and I would recommend it to everyone who fancies the movies like this.

The hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (year of release is 2012), the long-awaited fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson. Movie is the first of a three-part film adaptation of the novel The Hobbit (1937, by J.R.R. Tolkien). The script is written by Jackson and his collaborators Guillermo del Toro, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. Story’s principal character is Martin Freeman who act the part of Hobbit Bilbo Baggins. Other important actors of film are Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield), Ian McKellen (wizard Gandalf).
An Unexpected Journey –story set sixty years before The lord of the Rings in Middle-earth. Movie’s principal character in young Bilbo Baggins whose life change completely by the wizard Gandalf: Bilbo is convinced by the wizard Gandalf the Grey to accompany thirteen dwarves (Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Nori, Dori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Fili, Kili, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur) led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield. Bilbo reluctantly joins the company on their journey to the Lonely Mountain. Then starts exciting adventure, the quest to reclaim dwarves stolen home the Lonely Mountain from Smaug the dragon. To achieve their goal they have to go across middle-earth and encounter many scary threats such as orcs, trolls, enormous colossuses made by stone and, of course, Gollum.
The film looks beautiful, characters are fun and memorable, and the special effects look amazing. Bilbo is pleasant and brave little man and Dwarves are loyal to each other, really pedantic and materialistic and Gandalf old and wise wizard.
Before I see the movie I had high impressions that it would be amazing fantasy story because the legendary Lord of the Rings have also been great, famous and award-winning movies. As I watched the movie I noticed more and more of how good it really is! After seeing the movie I wished the other parts of hobbit could come out as soon as possible !
All in all, the hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has good plot setup and great action but some scenes were too long I recommend this movie to fan of fantasy or Tolkien’s novels.. If you enjoyed entering Middle Earth over a decade ago, then I highly suggest watching the Hobbit.

Police Academy

Police academy is a comedy film made in 1984 which was directed by Hugh Wilson and produced by Paul Maslansky. The film was released on the 23rd of March ’84 and the running time was around 96 minutes.  It is the first of the seven movies in the Police academy ‘’series’’, and in my opinion, it’s the best one of them by far.

The plot is basically this: The local police force has a severe shortage of police officers so the chief police decides to lower the requirements that are used to rule out the not so great candidates. This means, that the general level of physical, and sometimes mental wellbeing within the new police officers is drastically worse. A lot of conversations are held so that it could be decided, whether the new candidates will stay or not. Commander Eric Lassard has a different opinion. He thinks that the future police officers should stay and finish the academy. And in fact he’s right, because they save the town from a horrifying riot that suddenly occurred.

The characters are very memorable. Everybody, who has seen a Police academy-movie, is able to name at least one character. This is mostly due to the fact that every character has his/her own special ‘’ feature’’, for example, cadet Larwell Jones, played by Michael Winslow  is truly outstanding with his famous sound-effects. There are also many other memorable actors, such as Steve Guttenberg ( as cadet Carey Mahoney) and Bubba Smith ( as cadet Moses Hightower). Hightower’s name is actually ‘’true’’, because of his great length and strength. One funny pair of characters is Thaddeus Harris and Carl Proctor. They interact with each other like no other I’ve ever seen. So in other words, the actors are wisely chosen and they give their characters a personal ‘’touch’’.

The movie was filmed entirely in Toronto Canada and the various studio sequences were filmed at Lakeshore Studios. The camerawork is in general very good indeed and the soundtrack seems to fit into the movie rather well. The soundtrack consists of songs, that are mostly very ‘’bluesy’’. Most of the songs are performed by a musical group called Jack Mack and the heart attack. But undoubtedly the most famous songs of the soundtrack are the march at the beginning of the movie, and the melody, which starts to play at the ‘’Blue Oyster’’ bar. But one of the most remembered things about all of the seven Police Academy-movies has to be the awesome sound-effects performed by Michael Winslow.

All in all it could be said, that the movie is really excellent in pretty much every way. The soundtrack fits to the movies age perfectly with its bluesy sound from the 1980’s. In my opinion this movie should belong to the top 10 comedy movies ever made. But there is an intriguing question; what in the name of all that’s holy were they thinking, when they decided to make 6 sequels to this masterpiece?

The Young Victoria

The Young Victoria

The film is describing 1800´s history, when 18 years old Victoria became the queen of United Kingdom. The plot of film based on true story, which increased film´s interesting and gave information about real history. Film´s plot was a little bit drag and in the beginning it was difficult to get into the plot. In the beginning film described too much about that times history and scheming to Victoria, because everyone wanted to take advantage of her. I think that the film should been more interesting from the beginning if you had previous knowledge of that topic. The film´s plot could have been clearer. The film bettered toward of the end, because you get into plot. I would have wanted a little bit less policy and history and more describing about personal life of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Their life described only in general level. The film included also funny scenes. The film´s rate of progressing was slowly but sometimes it still moved on long steps. The Young Victoria is all in all impressive film.

The films characters were true and they have lived in during the 1800s. The Queen Victoria is historically significant person and many people have previous information about her, which helped to watching in question film. Characters of film were believable and their appearance and costumes was invested in very much. In the film was also involved animals and they brought more authenticity.

The films characters not really develop in the story line at all because they are only described in Queen´s youth years.

The film has good and delightful actresses. Emily Blunt (Queen Victoria) acts the leading role excellently and she empathizes to her character amazing well such as Rupert Friend, who plays Price Albert. Also others actresses plays their roles well, but they maybe stayed in the shadow such as Paul Bettany who plays Lord Melbourne.

Genre of the film was romantic drama, but I think that movie emphasized too much history and policy. The film would be able to go beneath the surface and describe more in-depth their personal life.

Piglet’s big movie

Piglet’s big movie
Piglet’s big movie was first released in USA 16 march 2003. The film is a children’s film based on A.A Milne’s winnie the pooh stories. It is directed by Franci Glebas. The film is a classical children’s film where being friends is very important and that you should never bully anyone.
As usual this is a perfectly drawn cartoon film from Walt Disney. The characters and the whole Hundred Acre Wood is really magnificently drawn. Typically after watching Winnie The Pooh you get a cheerfull feeling, well after this one also. The film contains a really great story.
The main character is Piglet, a small creature from the Hundred Acre Woods. Piglet is a really helpfull person who always helps his friends before anything else. The other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood’s are in a big role also.
During the film the are told few of the old allready known winnie the pooh stories. The adventure starts when rabbit and pooh has come to a great plan of getting honey for themselves. Piglet comes and asks them that can he help them, and they say that piglet is too small to help them. When they start to work on getting the honey bee’s attack them and piglet saves them but they still won’t notice piglet. Then suddenly piglet dissapears and after that the journey really begins. They start looking for piglet at his house and there they find a book where piglet has drawn all his memorys. Pooh thinks that the book remembers where piglet is and they go to places that piglet has drawn, and on
each page there is a different story told. They lost the book and get in grave danger when they are looking for it and then piglet saves them. Each time they are telling a story they notice that their little friend is actually a big hero. The story ends happily when piglet allso realises that he is a hero and they are all friend again.

Walt Disney has again managed to make a delightful happy ending to one of their movies. I really enjoyed watching the movie and i really recommend piglet’s big movie to every one who likes animation films.

Kick-Ass

Kick-Ass is an action comedy movie released in 2010. The movie is based on a comic book with the same name and directed by Matthew Vaugh. It tells the story of Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a nerdy high school student who decides to become a superhero even though he has no super powers or training for it. Unfortunately for him, he soon attracts the attention of not only real superheroes but also the mafia, and gets pulled into a bigger mess than just returning cats to their owners.

Kick-Ass is an excellent movies for a number of reasons. Both the plot and characters are very well written. The movie dances on the fine line between being hilarious and dark, with many comedic moments but also brutal violence. The characters are all very enjoyable and interesting, above all Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz), a ten-year-old girl who can pretty much take down anyone on her way and use the crudest language while still being completely adorable. Really, I have never heard of anyone not being in love with her after watching Kick-Ass. Overall the whole movie is highly entertaining and it actually seems to get better the more times you watch it.

One of my favorite things about Kick-Ass is how well the camerawork and soundtrack work together while both being excellent on their own too. The soundtrack especially meets my taste almost perfectly and works very well to highlight different kinds of tension during different scenes and draws attention to the many fine details in the movie. Kick-Ass is also visually a very nice movie to watch, I loved the color layer in the movie and how its origin as a comic book is shown in, for example, doing a whole scene as a cartoon.

Kick-Ass is not a movie for everyone. It’s got some rather disturbing things in it, including all kinds of violent scenes, so if that’s not your thing then you surely won’t enjoy this movie. But if you do appreciate an overall well made movie with the edge of humor and some ass kicking, then Kick-Ass will definitely be a movie for you.

(500) Days of Summer

(500) Days of Summer – Movie Review

(500) Days of Summer was released in 2009 and it’s comedy drama film. It’s directed by Marc Webb and written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. The movie is starred by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.

The movie tells about Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel), a girl who doesn’t believe true love exists, and Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a guy who falls in love with her. The story is not a love story but it is a story about love. Tom thinks that Summer is a love of his life, but Summer doesn’t even believe in love. They still start to date with each other but that doesn’t work out very well.

The movie is presented in a nonlinear narrative, as the movie jumps from various days within the 500-day period of Tom and Summer’s relationship. That’s why you need to focus on the movie that you know what day it is.

A soundtrack of this movie was released on July 14, 2009 and it includes 16 songs. The music is indie rock, alternative rock and folk.

I like the movie and I think it is great but sometimes I feel that it was hard to keep up with day it was because of that jumping back and forth between days but it also makes the movie interesting. I also like how the movie ends.
