Fan fiction: CSI Miami

CSI Miami is an American police serie that ran from 2002 to 2012. CSI Miami is the first spin-off of CSI. CSI Miami follows a South Florida team. They use high tecnologic methods and old-fashioned police work to solve crimes. Lieutenant Horatio Caine is the head of the team. Horatio, his second in command detective Calleigh Duquesne, and their team which includes Erik Delko, Boa Vista, Wolfe, Tripp, and labraworkers solve crimes of investigators cultural crossroads of Miami.

Fan fiction tells about the time after the last episode, it tells about Erik Delko and Calleigh Duquesne. This is like the beginning of the evening’s show and after this starts theme song.

The whole team is gatered together. They are selebrating their friend and co-worker. It’s Natalia’s (Boa Vista) housewarming parties. It’s getting late and Derek is leaving with Calleigh because he’s driving her home. Nobody knows they live ’together’. And ’together’ I mean they both have their own flats but Derek basicly lives at Calleigh’s place.

When they got home surprise was waiting for them. The inside of the house was messed up. It looked like somebody was looking for somethig but couldn’t find it. They know that the person will come again to look what he or she couldn’t find earlier.

They start to collect evidences and Calleigh checks nothing’s missing. They saw how the person has broke a back door window and came in. Nothing was missing and that’s odd. Usually if someone breaks to your home they take something but this guy didn’t. Looks like someone just wanted to scarry them. They find barely nothing. This guy was so specific. All they could find was broken back door, messed up house and some kind of mark on the wall. The mark bothered Erik, it seems familiar but he couldn’t figure it out.

Erik desided to stay sleepover althought he had planned to sleep at home that night. He wanted to make sure Calleigh is ok. Ofcourse Calleigh could handle it by herslef if something happens but Erik is stubborn so she lets him stay. Nothing happened at night. The person must know that they were going to Natalia’s place and when they’d come back.

They both still have to go to work. Derek’s work shift starts earlyer that Calleigh’s. He didn’t want to leave Calleigh all by her self but he knows there’s no way how he could turn her head around. He leaves reluctantly. Right a way when Derek gets to work he starts to investigate the evidences. He works alone because this is private and he doesn’t want to raise a voice about it.

He found something. Now he knows why the mark looked so familiar. It’s from Russia or at least they have used it. Eriks father is part of the Russian mafia (also in the tv serie) and that’s where he has seen it.

Erik’s phone rings. It’s Calleigh, at least he thinks it is. Erik answears excited, he had found good news about the ’break in’ guy. And then he hears…. It’s not Calleigh. In the phone is defenitely a man who has a dark and deep voice with an strange accent. At that very moment Erik leaves to drive over Calleigh’s home. She isn’t there. He finds a note that is addressed to him on the table. He calls Horatio and tells Calleigh is gone, that she’s missing.. Someone must have kidnapped her.

Horatio answears: ’I am on way!’

Ice Age

Ice Age is a animated movie released on march 15, 2002.

The film is directed by Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha, the screenplay of film is done by Michael Berg and the story is written by Michael J. Wilson.

The most successful voice actors of the film are, Ray Romano (Manfred), Jogn Leguizamo (Sid), Denis Leary (Diego), Goran Visnjic (Soto) and Jack Black (Zeke). Best voiceplay is in my opinion made by Denis Leary.

Ice Age’s theme is surprisingly set on during the ice age, where a sloth named Sid, a woolly mammoth named Manny, and a saber-toothed tiger named Diego are forced to become unlikely heroes. The three reluctantly come together when they have to return a human child to its father while braving the deadly elements of the impending Ice Age.

Characters of the movie are as said above, Sid: a clumsy, annoying, slow moving, fast-talking and unpopular sloth. Diego who is a sarcastic sabretooth tiger who makes everyone watching the film smile. Manfred ”Manny” is a woolly mammoth who can be serious and emotional, but is otherwise caring and friendly.Scrat is a saber-toothed squirrel who is obsessed with collecting acorns, constantly putting his life in danger to obtain and defend them. He has his own stories in the film, independent of the main plot, which are parallel with the journeys of the other main characters, causing them to interact with him at times.

The films soundtrack is called ”Send Me on My Way” is written by Liz Berlin, John Buynak, Jim DiSpirito, Jim Donovan, Michael Glabicki, Patrick Norman and Jenn Wertz. The soundtrack is performed by band ”Rusted Root” which is in courtesy of ”The Island Def Jam Music Group”. The soundtrack is quite awesome fitting to the movie. It’s kind of country stylish on beginning of the movie, but on end it gets bit of sad.

Ice Age become a huge success right after it’s release which by years has leaded it to get four sequel’s and will in future, most likely get more of them.

Full Stop

Alecia McKenzie’s short story ”Full Stop” tells about Carmen and her grandmother’s correspondence. These main characters write letters to each other. At the beginning of the short story Carmen tells that her grandmother writes without commas or full stops, and then there’s one letter from the grandmother. And then comes Carmen’s reply where she writes ”Grandma what do you mean by God Bless And whats this about weak knees You know youre fit as a fiddle”; the same way her grandma writes. But unexpectedly her grandmother baffles her writing. This gives the reader a feeling that the grandmother might not be all sane.

Carmen is in her thirties and lives in New York. She has seen her real mother only once because the mother lives in London. Carmen and her two years younger brother, Richard, are raised by their Grandma Scottie. The grandmother is a quite peculiar character: she starts every letter with ”Dear Carmen”, and she’s total Holy Roller (she often writes about God, and believes that God will protect her from evil, like burglars and she often writes ”God bless”) and like said, writes without punctuation. What comes to the grandmother’s Christianity, she seems a bit hypocritical sometimes. Or she just really is a truly Holy Roller… Either way, Carmen doesn’t seem to like it so much: she usually just overlooks it. Carmen and the grandmother are very close and they have regularly been writing to each other, giving the fact that the grandma has been like a mother to Carmen. Carmen’s biological mother has sometimes written a letter or two to Carmen, but Carmen hasn’t been able to answer her because she feels like she’s writing to a stranger.

Alongside the correspondence Carmen sends her grandmother money every now and then. Usually the money is meant to a specific purpose. E.g. Carmen sent Scottie money so that she could hire a painter that would paint her house. Although the money usually goes to something way more different that it should go. So when Carmen sent money for the painter, Scottie put the money in the bank because she thinks that the island’s, where the grandma lives, painters are thieves. The grandma is very stubborn with some things, maybe because of her age…

It’s been transpired that Grandma Scottie is one of a kind person. Carmen doesn’t seem to care about Scottie’s weird behavior, but obviously her brother Richard is aware of grandmother’s situation. That can be the reason why he hasn’t kept touch with his grandmother. The story won’t tell the reason so we can only speculate.

Why Honey? short story analysis

Why, Honey?” –novel has been written by Raymond Carver. It is a quite short novel that tells about a mom who is worry about her son. The son acts weird and the mom thinks that he conceal something.

The mom of the story is worried about her son, because he begins to behave particularly. Among other things, the proof is that she found her son’s bloody shirt and in addition, the son vanishes sometimes and he also seems to be hiding things. Moreover, the neighbor says that he saw two boys kill hers cat and one of the kids was her son. The boy also resigned from the job without telling her mom and the boy bought a shotgun and a hunting knife.

I think that the mom´s evidence are a pretty convincing, because they are occurring so much and so often. Sometimes the son acts also threateningly. The evidences are quite clear.

The final paragraph of the letter that the narrator wrote tells about her. She suggests that she is possibly very distressed and she is missing her son. She says that she has been praying to get answers. She seems to be very dubious what has happened. The narrator wrote this letter to response for a letter that is unknown and it´s writer is the unknown person for the reader.

I think that the narrator is reliable, because she is telling about her son. Even she tells some bad and alarming things about the boy, she still apologize him. It is however possible that the narrator downplays her own role in the incidents that she has written in her letter.

The writer of that novel has written very simply and easily readable text. He doesn´t describe hardly at all. The text is nevertheless progressing smoothly and clearly. The novel awakens interestingness because the writer leaves the end open.

Pretty Little Liars (fan fiction)

Pretty-Little-Liars-Aria-Spencer-Emily-Hanna

If Mr. Fitz had been found with his student, he would certainly be fired from his work. He can also get accused of interfering with a student.

They can not publish their relationship immediately: they must present that they have met accidentally during the vacation and that they started dating just now. Of course Aria’s closest friends, Emily, Spencer and Hanna, know the truth but otherwise the relationship still must be kept as a secret.

Now it is the middle of the summer holidays, and Aria and Ezra are finally together in public. Also their parents know about the relationship. First Aria’s mum was a little shocked, because she is also working as a teacher in that high school, so therefore Ezra is her ex-workmate.

Tribute by Nora Roberts

This film tells about a young lady who has left her world of movies behind. Years ago she was a child filmstar  and everybody knows her. Now she is studying a builduing champion and she is going to renovate the manor of her grandmother. Grandmother was mysteriously died more than thirty years ago. Strangers terrorize Cilla’s working with the manor. The unknowns do not want that Cilla examines issues like the letters of her grandmother. However, Cilla regardless founds out that her grandmother was pregnant when she died. Cilla finds a comforter living the next door, Jason the comic book artist, who  helps her to explain the weird mystery.

The movie is naturally carried out and the characters are plesants to watch. The director Martha Coolidge has done his best, compared to some of her other movies. She carries the story smoothly from scene to scene, creating a whole. The end of this movie was not foreseeable, like usually love film’s are. There are not any special effects, because this movie does not need them. The only special effects is the flashbacks that Cilla sees at times. Furthermore, the soundtrack is not very special. Camera men are normally placed.

All in all, Tribute is a syrupy lovestory like the other movies or books by Nora Roberts. This movie was supposed to contain the excitement, but it had not it that so much. The film was a hit when it was released in year 2009 and it is still popular.

Bridget Jones – Elämä jatkuu

Bridget Jones:The Edge of Reason (2004) is a romantic comedy film of the life of Bridget Jones. It is a sequel to Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001), based on a novel written by Helen Fielding and directed by Beeban Kidron. Starring is Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, Hugh Grant as Daliel Cleaver and Colin Firth as Mark Darcy.

Bridget Jones is a chubby, awkward but very funny english tv-journal whose lovelife is a mess. In the first movie Bridget Jones’s choose polite and civilized Mark Darcy over cheating and arrogant Daniel Cleaver. Now Bridget is happily with Mark but not for long. Mark and Bridget break up because of a misunderstanding and Bridget ends up in Thailand to business trip.Of course Bridget’s ex-boyfriend Daniel is on board and as Bridgets work partner. Bridget isn’t far from falling for Daniel again until it turns out that he hasn’t changed a bit. The real problems start when Bridget is about to get back to UK. In the airport a sniffer dog finds cocaine from Bridgets suitcase. Bridget has unwittingly tried to smuggle drugs.
Bridget stays in Thailand in prison, but luckily Mark comes and saves her. Traditionaly, Mark and Daniel get into a fight for Bridget. In the end Bridget and Mark get back together and Mark proposes to Bridget.

Bridget Jones movies differ much from other romantic comedies. Bridgets charachter is easy to identify with. She hasn’t got the most amazing bodyshape nor is she rich. She cant stop smoking and she rarely acts the way that’s supposed to. She embarreses herself often but she always gets back on her feet and she also doesn’t care about what other people think of her. That is something to admire.

The most fun part is Marks and Daniels fight. It wasn’t ”cool” fighting like in most films. There was two men slapping, kicking and trying to hit each other, thats what fighting really looks like between men. The seem made the movie even more plausible. The atmosphere is very casual and comical. The film is very light to watch, it is no Schindlers list. The movie is suitable for young and older women.

Rogue Assassin (War)

Rogue Assassin (also known as War) is a typical action film, though it has a fairly boring name. The summary of the plot sounds just as boring as the name of the movie: an FBI-agent dies as a bystander in the competition between two criminal organizations(Yakuza versus Chinese Triads), and his partner starts chasing the killer for revenge.

Altough the plot of Rogue Assasin isn’t the most imaginative, the movie has a certain tension, which leads to that the movie can be watched again and again. The plot contains lots of clichés such as ninjas with samuraiswords, rule breaking agents and mob bosses defending their honour. There is also some problems in the plot, but a normal viewer doesn’t pay attentintion to those, since the main focus is on the action.

Jet Li makes brilliant work as an assassin named Rogue. Stone-faced Li is an ideal choise for this role, and he is very believable as an ruthless killer. The character of Rogue is told to have worked for CIA, but for some reason he started to work for Yakuza and help them with their competition with the triads. Suddenly Rogue begins to kill people also from the Yakuza, secretly collecting fees from both sides. The film tries to give the impression that Rogue is just greedy and wants to push the two factions in full war in order to get more money, but the viewer can easily see that there is something more complex behind Rogue. The real motive of Rogue is kept as a secret till the end, and the reveal ads a quite intresting twist to the movie.

The second main character is John Crawford (played by Jason Statham), an angry and frustrated FBI’s special agent who has tried to catch the murderer of his partner over three years. The revenge soon becomes an obsession, and Crawford stops following the rules – so the suspects are usually beaten and even slightly tortured. Jason Statham is definitely one of the best action actors of  today, however in my opinion Statham is unimportant for this movie – he could be easily replaced with a fresh and unknow actor, to emphasize Li’s great performance – besides, Statham is a bit too rough to be an agent.

So there are some problems with the casting and the plot, but Rogue Assassin is an action movie, so the action scenes are what matters the most. And this movie contains a lot of action. Fist fights, gun fights, sword fights, car chase, motorcycle chase, explosions. And everything is very well done. Overall I’m very pleased with the action scenes and the special effects, tough the final fight could have been a bit longer.

So this isn’t a masterpiece worth of Oscars, but Rogue Assassin is still a very good flick which fits perfectly for friday night if you want some action.

Saw

Saw is an indepentend horror film directed by James Wann. It’s premiere was in 2004.It was the first installment in the franchise, there are seven Saw-films overall. Saw’s plot starts when two men wake up chained in a dilapitated bathroom, with no clue how they ended up in there. In the middle of the room lies a dead man who has shot himself in the head. These two men, doctor Lawrence Gordon(Cary Elwes) and Adam(Leigh Whannell) ,who is a photographer, are given instructions how to escape this trap via microcassette recorder. Lawrence must kill Adam before the time runs out or else his family will be murdered. Adam is told simply to escape the room. Elsewhere the police are trying to catch the man who sets up these ”games”, the jigsaw killer.

The start of the film creates a very interesting layout to it and keeps the viewer interested. The plot is very well written overall, it stays exciting for the entire movie, despite the fact that Saw has a slower tempo than it’s sequels. It tells bit by bit a little more from this ”jigsaw killer’s” other victims and deepens Lawrence’s and Adam’s characters by revealing things from their past and by telling more from their backround. But very big part of the film is located in that single room where these two man are chained in, and still it manages to stay entertainig. This partially explains the fact that Saw was shot only in 18 days, which is very fast for a feature film.

Altough Saw had only about 1 million dollar budget, it looks and sounds very good. All the gory effects that are seen in it look very beliavable and will definitenely cause shudder in the viewer. Speaking of gore, there is not that much of it in Saw compared to it’s sequels, it has been used only (at least mostly) when the progression of story requires it and it has been carried out with good taste. Also the movie has a psycolochigal aspect to it, for it’s theme is ”How much blood would you shed to stay alive?”. Saw also gets a big plus from an epic soundtrack which is very memorable, especially the song at the end.

The characters in Saw are well written and believable with their faults and personal problems. But the absolute star of the film is the jigsaw killer, who is not a generic superpowered horror movie killer, instead he is a 54-year-old cancer patient, with at least questionable ideology. He wants to ”cure” people and make them learn appreciate life through these lethal traps he refers to as ”games”. There is always a way to escape, but not without infilcting terrible damage and pain to yourself. Also Jigsaw is very intelligent and plans everything he does very carefully. The casting for the movie is well made, Cary Elwes and Leigh Whannell do their job very well. And there is no bad performance seen in the film from anyone. But again, Tobin Bell does an astonishing job as the Jigsaw, and I couldn’t come up with a better man for the role. You can see the passion he put into his character from his acting.

Saw made a big impression on me, and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes well made horror films. The movie’s ending is very suprising and will definitely give you goose bumps. I also liked Saw’s brilliant and very interesting plot, which made me want to watch the second movie instantly. It is hard to find anything negative to say about the film, Saw is one the most succesful horror movie franchises in this century and in my opinion not without a reason!

Marley & Me

Marley & Me is a movie based on a book written by John Grogan, which is also the name of the leading male actor in the movie. It was directed by David Frankel and the screenplay by Scott Frank and Don Roos. The movie is starred by two famous actors Owen Wilson (John Grogan) and Jennifer Aniston (Jenny Grogan) who, in the beginning of the movie, got married.

At the beginning of their joint life they follow the plan that Jenny wrote, which leads to moving to a warmer place and getting a house. John starts to work as a reporter but eventually becomes a very good columnist. In the fear of moving to the next step of Jenny’s plan, John decides to get her a puppy, a Labrador retriever, so that she wouldn’t think about having a child yet. They named the puppy Marley, who happened to be a total disaster, it eats the floor, chews the walls, drinks from the toilet, stays up all night howling when it’s a thunderstorm, gets kicked out of a behavior school meant for dogs etc. John’s boss wanted him to write a couple of columns and he couldn’t think of anything to write about but Marley. His columns were very liked, which lead to him being a columnist and he would almost in every column mention Marley. Despite Marley being a chaotic dog, it had a big heart and it loved Grogans very much. They had three children which made few years of their life very hectic but they managed to go through it even with Marley being part of their everyday life.

Jenny acts sometimes a bit selfishly when she herself doesn’t feel good and says and does what she wants, but when she realizes that she has done wrong, she honestly apologizes. John is sarcastic but very funny guy. He is also very honest and nice person.

The movie’s genre is both drama and comedy. I think that the most of it is comedy though it has a very dramatic ending. In my opinion, the movie is definitely worth of watching. I have watched it at least five times and I’m still not fed up with it, it always makes me laugh and in the end I cry my eyes out.
