The Book of Eli

The Book of Eli (2010) (by Gary Whitta) is a post-apocalyptic tale, in which there are a lone man who fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book which is a Bible. Almost every copy of The Bible is burned after war. There is some enemies on his way and he will have to compete with them so he can deliver that book to safety.

Characters:

Eli (Denzel Washington) is the main character and he is on journey to deliver that Bible to safety on a museum. On his way he finds companion who helps him complete that task.

Carnegie (Gary Oldman) is the main bad guy. He has guys looking for books, but really he wants to get his hands on Bible. Because he believes that with that he could rule the humankind.

Claudia (Jennifer Beals) is Carnegie’s blind mistress and mother of Solara.

Solara (Mila Kunis) becomes an companion for Eli and she helps completing the task. First Eli would not want Solara to come with him. He rather wants to complete his burden alone, but after when Solara gets caught by highwaybandits Eli comes to help her and they start to walk together.

Lombardi (Malcolm McDowell) is the owner of the museum and he re-writes The Bible as the Eli tells him.

Special effects:There is so much of them in fighting scenes. You can know that they are effects, but still they look so much alive. Also when the house is gunned down camera comes towards the gun you can see it shooting but you will see its just an effect.

Genre: The genre of this movie is action, adventure and also drama. Its wonderful tale about task what you can complete if you just want to succeed in it.

My own opinion about this movie is that its so good that you can watch it many times and just then you can understand all what it tells to you.

Hachiko

Hachico is a drama film which was released in 2009. It is directed by Lasse Hallström. The film is a remake of the previously published A good and faithful servant(1987). The film is said that it is story about loyalty.

The film is about a dog and a host between loyalty. The main character (Richard Gere) save a dog named Hachico in the street. Dog and owner develop between the unbelievable  bond. Hachiko followed his master to work every day, and the train station to wait for him until the host can access from work. When the host dies, Hachiko will continue for many years to wait for the train station at a certain time.

The movie is very sad but at the same time lovely. I can almost promise that it will make every spectator even touched in some way. It is the reason why I love the movie so much. Even though I’ve watched the movie so many times I cry every time still as much.

I recommend the movie for everyone. It does not matter whether or not you do you like dogs but yet I believe that this affects even more dog people. It may even be that the attitude of dogs will change after seeing the movie.

Thoughts: The movie something what comes from TV every year, and I have seen the  movie couple of times before, but I remember when I first saw it when I was a small kid I laughed really hard. Now there were a few joke what made me fell like a child again the movie itself is not anything special it is all about making fun of every movie.

Law Abiding Citizen

Law Abiding Citizen was first released in North America in 2009. The film is an intense thriller and it is directed by F. Gary Grey. To put it simply the film is a classic battle between the good and the evil.

There is two main characters. Jamie Foxx stars the Philadelphia district attorney called Nick. He is a well-to-do attorney who lives a happy life with his wife. Gerrard Butler plays the role of Clyde, the evil of the film. Law Abiding Citizen begins with a cruel murder. Clyde is forced to watch when two murderers kill his family. Our attorney Nick gets the case. The first killer is sentenced to death, but the second one doesn’t confess,so Nick needs to make a deal with him: no death penalty.

After prologue Clyde gets angry with the system. He hunts for revenge. Committing a murder Clyde is imprisoned. But it doesn’t stop him. Many murders are still about to happen while Clyde is in prison. Does he have an accomplish or only unlimited resources and such a clever mind?

The camerawork of the film is just like in other thrillers but it works. Everything is dark and chilly. The colors are very much faded. With the soundtrack the film creates a creepy feeling. It is a big part of the excitement.

I was surprised because the film wasn’t rated that good at the IMDb (only 7,3/10). I liked it very much myself. The main thing that fascinated me was that Clyde was always a step ahead of authorities. It was spooky to watch all the murders to happen and Clyde just sat confidently in his cell with a little bit mad and cold smile on his face. I would recommend Law Abiding Citizen to those who seek after excitement and a bit of fear. The plot is pretty complicated and I didn’t fully understand it until the second viewing but it din’t make any difference to my opinion of the film.
