Terra Nova

Terra Nova

Terra Nova is a science fiction drama television series, which premiered on September 26, 2011 and concluded on December 19, 2011. It’s based on an idea by Kelly Marcel, a British writer. The series was really expensive to produce, it costed about four million dollars per period. The story of the series tells about people living in year 2149, the world is overpopulated and the air is very polluted, most of the vegetation and Animalia has died to extinction. However, scientists have created a time portal that allows people to travel 85 million years to past, to a different time stream. It’s the only way to keep mankind alive.

Fan Fiction

It’s January 10, 2012. I wake up at 6.30 am, eat some breakfast, take a hot shower and put my clothes on. But it’s not going to be a normal school day, it’s going to be a really special day for sure. Our english class is going to make a study trip 85 million years back to past. Somehow I feel myself more perky than normally, no idea why at all. I run to bus stop, I certainly don’t want to miss the bus today. As I arrive to school, the class is already congregating by a bus which will take us to secret science center where is the portal to the past. The drive feels like it would never end, but finally we arrive to our destination. Guards make sure we’re not carrying anything which could set us in danger in the different time stream. After the checkup guards tell us to head to a large hall, where the portal is. Step by step I’m coming closer and closer, I can see the teacher stepping in first and a massive flash blinds my eyes for a second. At last it’s my turn, I take a last look behind and step in. Instantly I’m in a whole new world, and in the middle of chaos! Giant dinosaurs are rushing through a gigantic wooden gate. Some soldiers lead us to a bunker to safe. The situation makes me think if this was a good idea at all. After few hours a strange man beckons us to come out. He introduces himself as the commander of the village and his name is Nathaniel Taylor. I can smell the fresh clean air and the view is just stunningly beautiful. Next several days we were exploring the nearby environment and I learned much about life of the soldier. I even got teacher’s permission to shoot one of the soldier’s gun. Of course I managed to put my shoulder out of joint. Now we’ve spent a week in this gorgeous place and it’s a shame that we need to return back to year 2012. This journey has been an experience of a lifetime for me and surely to whole class as well. Hopefully I manage to carry my memories all the way to the grave.

Bad Boys

The movie I chose was American action comedy film Bad Boys, which was directed by Michael Bay. Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Téa Leoni, Tchéky Karyo, Theresa Randle and Joe Pantoliano were starring. The movie was released on April 7th, 1995 and it’s running time is 118 minutes. The movie turned out as blockbuster, the budget was 19 million dollars and box office was 141 million dollars worldwide. In 2003 a sequel, Bad Boys II came out.

The movie’s plot tells about two American detectives, Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith), who are best friends and they work in the narcotics division in Miami-Dade Police Departmend. The detectives are ordered to solve a case about stolen heroin, which value is 100 million dollars.

Special effects of the movie were quite poor, only few explosions and chasing scenes. The explosions weren’t really realistic and chasing scenes felt like they’d never end. But on the other hand, the movie is a comedy film and in my opinion in that genre, special effects and ”boring” chase scenes aren’t so necessary at all, in fact I think they are meant to be like that and of course, that saved a lot of money. The movie includes lots of shooting scenes which are salted with a great sense of humor.

If you ask me, the movie’s stars, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are probably the best choice for starring in this very film. They are able to empathize on their roles and express their lines. The director Michael Bay didn’t like the script and often allowed Smith and Lawrence to improvise while the cameras were rolling. I think that surely resulted in better lines.
