is American drama based the novel of the same name by Kathryn Stockett. Director of movie is Tate Taylor and it is produced by Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan and Brunson Green. The help was set in Jackson, Mississippi and it stars are for example Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Dallas Howard, Jessica Chastain and Sissy Spacek. It became a box-office success with a gross of $211.6 million against its budget of $25 million. The Help receiver four academy award nominations and On January 29, 2012 the film won the The Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film was nominated for over a 102 awards and won 41 of those awards. Movie’s the original song is ”The Living Proof” By Mary J. Blige and it was released on July 29, 2011.
The film is about a young white woman, Eugenia ”Skeeter” Phelan and her relationship with two black maids at the early 1960s, Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis) and Minny Jackson (Octavia Spencer). Skeeter is not like the other young women at that time, she is strong minded, different and understanding. Skeeter is a journalist and she has struggle to find a good huspend and that’s why she concentrate on writing. Skeeter decides to write a book about racism the maids are faced with as they work for white families. Skeeter and the maids start to write a book even they know that they might get some big problems after publication. They hope that the times will change and decides write a book no matter of what.
Why I choose this movie? Subject is really important, interesting and touching. Movie put me think all those horrible things that happened at early 1960s in USA and the movie gives respect and compassion for the black maids. Also I think that The Help is one of the best drama movies I have ever seen.
