Why, Honey?

I read Why, Honey? by Raymond Carver. The story is about just a normal mother. Mothers always think their own child only good things, like the mother of this. It started when the boy was 15 years old. The family cat was lost and days later neighbor told the mother that the boy had killed by it. Mother couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t believe it until when the boy was caught lying and the cover-up. Boy got angry outbursts and eventually moved away from home. Mother was afraid of still child. She changed all the old life, the phonenumber, the name….

I think mother’s claims were reasonable. Mother’s are concerned about their own children. It is part of their nature. I think the mother has been right. It is not too much to ask that the boy would have told the truth. I think the narrator is a mother who wrote a letter.  The narrator’s information is reliable. Mother had suffered from large pain, she had to share the pain and share it with someone.
